Dry Distemper And Snowcem Powder
Distempers and snow cem powder as a class belong to water paints. These are the powder mixture of pigment and binder which when dispersed in water gives the required water paint. Distempers are manufactured in a wide range of bright colours and find extensive use as well coatings on cemented surfaces just like white wash. Recently, distempers have replaced white wash and calcimine. This is mainly due to the superior retention powder, durability, and light fastness on exposure to exterior conditions throughout the year. Calcimine is a distemper in whiting as the principal pigment. It is sold in the form of dry powder to be mixed with water by the painter and is intended primarily for the decoration of plastered interior walls. Calcimine represent the latest expensive decorative coating available above the crude level of white wash or lime wash. It makes falt coatings with clear. Soft colour that do not fade and do not turn yellow in subsuced light. Distemper form a cheap, durable and easily applied decoration for internal use on most building material except wood and metal whose moisture & thermal movement are likely to cause flaking. They are eminently suitable for decorating large surfaces of plaster cement products bricks and various forms of wall boards such as plaster board and insulating board, if suitably formulated they may be used externally on cement products or on brick work.
